Prior to his time at The Washington Post, Garcia-Roberts was part of investigative teams at Newsday, the Los Angeles Times, and USA Today. His investigative work on police misconduct at Newsday was a Pulitzer Prize finalist. Garcia-Roberts is known for his books “Jimmy the King” and “Blood Sport.” ProPublica’s managing editor, Tracy Weber, expressed excitement about Garcia-Roberts’ addition to the team and the upcoming sports coverage.
