Motel One achieves record revenue and strategic expansion in 2024

Motel One Group has achieved a remarkable financial performance in 2024, posting its highest annual turnover ever. Despite facing tough competition, the budget hotel chain saw its turnover reach EUR 980 million, marking a 15% increase from the previous year.

In the 2024 financial year, Motel One experienced significant growth in key financial metrics. Revenues climbed to EUR 979.6 million, up from EUR 851.5 million in 2023. The company’s EBITDAR also rose by 14% to EUR 532 million, maintaining a stable margin of 54.3%. Furthermore, Management EBITDA grew by 13% to EUR 265 million, showcasing the company’s strong business model and operational excellence.

The success of the group was fueled by network expansion and high occupancy rates. Motel One added five new hotels in 2024, increasing its total room count by 1,458 rooms. Notable openings included The Cloud One Hotels in Düsseldorf and Gdańsk, as well as a new Motel One in Antwerp. The average occupancy rate hit 71%, with a noteworthy performance in the fourth quarter of 2024, boasting a TRevPAR of EUR 102 and an occupancy rate of 74%.

Looking forward to 2025, Motel One has a positive outlook. The company plans to open five new hotels in Munich, London, Lisbon, Paris, and Vienna, adding 1,140 rooms. With strong financial results and successful new hotel performances in 2024, the group is well-positioned for further growth. The upcoming partnership with PAI Partners, expected to finalize in Q2 2025, will support Motel One’s international expansion phase, providing additional resources for continued growth.

The strategic collaboration with PAI Partners, which will acquire an 80% stake in the operational business, signifies a significant milestone for Motel One. Founder Dieter Müller will remain as Chairman of the company. With a solid lineup of new openings and a strong market presence, Motel One is set for ongoing success in 2025 and beyond, leveraging its ability to expand in key European markets and meet increasing customer demands.
