Antioch’s Maddy Clancy is eagerly anticipating another shot at the state tournament. As the lone current player who was part of the softball team’s three consecutive trips to the Class 3A state semifinals, including a third-place finish in 2022, Clancy brings valuable experience. She has also competed at state twice in cheerleading.
However, this season holds special significance for Clancy. After missing the previous season due to a torn labrum in her left shoulder sustained during a cheer routine, she is determined to make the most of her comeback. Having worked hard to secure a starting position this year, Clancy has been a key player for Antioch, contributing significantly to their success in the Northern Lake County Conference.
Antioch coach Anthony Rocco praised Clancy’s dedication and versatility on the field, highlighting her strong defensive skills and offensive contributions. Clancy’s resilience and competitive spirit have not gone unnoticed by her teammates, who admire her commitment and leadership.
Despite facing challenges and setbacks, Clancy’s passion for the game and her team’s success has never wavered. Her return to form has been a source of inspiration for her teammates and a testament to her unwavering determination.
