The Batiste family of New Orleans, known for their musical dynasty created by late parents John J.J. Batiste and Estelle Curtis Batiste, is mourning the recent passing of Paul Batiste, their third son.

Paul A. Batiste, a proud Army veteran, dedicated educator, talented musician, and beloved father, passed away on April 25, 2025. Born and raised in New Orleans, Paul embodied the city’s resilience, strength, and compassion through his service in the Army and as a music educator and band leader. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and belief in the potential of others.

Having graduated from Southern University at New Orleans in 1978, Paul devoted over 30 years to teaching music at various schools and mentoring future musical talents in the city. He was also the bandleader of the Batiste Brothers Band, composing much of their music and contributing to New Orleans’ musical heritage.

Plans are being made for a public celebration of Paul’s life in New Orleans, a city he cherished and served deeply. The family expresses gratitude for the support received during this challenging time. For more information about Paul Batiste’s life and music, visit batistebrothers.com and batistebrothersband.com.
