During an interview at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, Arvind Krishna, CEO of IBM, announced that the company will invest $150 billion in the U.S. over the next five years. Out of this, more than $30 billion will be used to enhance American manufacturing of its mainframe and quantum computers. Krishna stated that this commitment ensures IBM remains a global leader in advanced computing and AI capabilities, emphasizing the company’s long-standing focus on American jobs and manufacturing.

This investment announcement follows President Trump’s recent tariff policy aimed at boosting U.S. manufacturing. IBM’s investment aims to fuel the American economy and solidify the country’s position as a leader in computing globally. The company highlighted its operation of the world’s largest fleet of quantum computer systems, which will continue to be built and assembled in the U.S.

Nvidia, a competitor of IBM and a major player in the AI industry, also announced plans to produce its NVIDIA AI supercomputers entirely in the U.S. The company aims to manufacture up to $500 billion of AI infrastructure through its partnerships over the next four years.

In its recent financial report, IBM exceeded expectations for the first quarter, reporting $14.54 billion in revenue. The company’s net income decreased to $1.06 billion, with its infrastructure division, including mainframe computers, generating $2.89 billion in revenue for the quarter. IBM also unveiled a new Z17 AI mainframe earlier this month.

These developments signal a significant investment in American manufacturing and technology, with both IBM and Nvidia committing to bolstering the U.S. economy through their respective initiatives.
