Here’s the New Alfa Romeo Stelvio Before You’re Supposed to See It

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio has been on the market for almost ten years, and despite its age, it remains a sought-after SUV and one of the most thrilling to drive in its competitive segment. However, there is a growing need for a second generation as the current model will soon need to embrace electrification. An official unveiling is scheduled for later this year, and we already have a glimpse of its design.

Recent images of the Stelvio’s exterior design have been unveiled through the trademark office, showing a complete redesign compared to the outgoing model. The absence of visible exhaust tips suggests an all-electric version, but Alfa Romeo confirms there will also be less expensive internal combustion engine options available.

The new design of the Stelvio features a distinctive front grille (Scudetto), making it easily recognizable as an Alfa Romeo. The sleek upper daytime running lights give it a modern look, while the profile hints at a larger size than the current model. The rear of the vehicle showcases unique taillights and a square tailgate.

Alfa Romeo is taking a bolder approach with the design of the second-generation Stelvio, with more daring details and a departure from traditional Italian elegance. The upcoming Giulia model may share similarities with the Stelvio, as both will move to a five-door fastback style and sit on the STLA Large platform.

While there were speculations about the engine options for the new Stelvio, Alfa Romeo has confirmed it will retain its twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine instead of opting for the Dodge Charger’s inline-six. The new model is expected to be larger than its predecessor and is set to be unveiled later this year.
