Construction starts on first big battery to directly connect to TenneT Netherlands network

Return, a Dutch company specializing in energy storage, has begun building a 100 MW/200 MWh battery energy storage system in Waddinxveen. This project, scheduled to be connected to the TenneT Netherlands high-voltage network in 2026, will be the first of its size. Vattenfall has signed an eight-year contract to oversee and maximize half of the system’s capacity.
