New York Attorney General Letitia James has teamed up with 11 other states to take legal action against the Trump administration for imposing what they consider to be “unlawful tariffs.” The lawsuit, which challenges the administration’s authority to implement tariffs without congressional approval, was filed in the United States Court of International Trade. The states involved in the lawsuit include Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, and Vermont. They argue that the tariffs, imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, are not in line with the law and could have negative economic consequences. President Trump has recently shown willingness to negotiate on these tariffs, which have sparked retaliatory measures from other countries.
