Disney Adventure, the first cruise ship in the industry to be powered by green methanol, has set sail for the first time after leaving the Meyer Wismar shipyard in Germany. The ship, weighing 208,000 gross tons, was launched on April 19, 2025, and will undergo sea trials in the Baltic Sea before heading to its home port in Singapore. With measurements of 342 meters in length, 46.4 meters in beam, and a draft of 9.5 meters, the vessel is designed to accommodate around 6,000 passengers.
This innovative cruise liner is fueled by green methanol, known for being one of the cleanest energy sources available. Green methanol is produced from renewable sources, resulting in a significant reduction of carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxides emissions. Originally named Global Dream, Disney Adventure was acquired by Disney Cruise Line in 2022 after the previous owner filed for bankruptcy. The ship is part of a series of vessels built by Meyer Werft for Disney Cruise Line, with Disney Adventure being the first to run on green methanol.
