Lagos Blue Line Has Transported Over Two Million Passengers, BRT Bus Moved 60 Million Commuters Since 2019

The Lagos State Government has announced that the Phase 1 of the Blue Line (Marina to Mile 2) has transported more than two million passengers since its inception, while the state-operated BRT buses have carried over 60 million commuters since 2019, with a daily ridership that surpasses 40,000.
This significant achievement in transportation was shared by Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, the Commissioner for Transportation, during the Year 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre in Alausa.

The occasion marked the second anniversary of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second term, highlighting the notable progress in the transport sector under the THEMES Plus Agenda.
Regarding railway advancements, Osiyemi mentioned that Phase 2 of the Blue Line (Mile 2 to Okokomaiko) is currently underway. He also mentioned that Phase 1 of the Red Line (Agbado to Oyingbo) is now in operation, featuring eight stations, with Phase 2 (Oyingbo to connect with the Blue Line at the National Theatre) in progress.

In terms of the state-managed bus services, Osiyemi pointed out that there are plans to introduce new buses, with Quality Bus Corridors being constructed. Additionally, the Abule Egba Bus Terminal has been inaugurated.
Regarding water transportation, Osiyemi stated that more than 280,000 passengers have utilized ferry services in the past year. He added that 15 locally-built Omibus Ferries are operational, and 12 boats have been upgraded to meet safety requirements.
The Commissioner for Transportation also mentioned the OMI EKO project, which, in collaboration with the French Development Agency (AFD), will deliver 25 terminals and 78 electric ferries.
