On Tuesday, Lori Vallow Daybell was found guilty by an Arizona jury of conspiring to kill her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, who was shot and killed in July 2019. The jury in Maricopa County Superior Court convicted her of plotting to commit first-degree murder in connection with Charles Vallow’s death.

Charles Vallow was fatally shot on July 11, 2019. Vallow Daybell, who acted as her own attorney during the trial, claimed that her brother, Alex Cox, who passed away before facing charges, had killed her estranged husband in self-defense due to a pulmonary embolism. However, prosecutors contended that Vallow Daybell wanted her then-husband of 13 years dead to collect a $1 million life insurance payout and marry Chad Daybell, which she did after Charles Vallow’s death.

The Tammy Douglas Daybell Foundation released a statement expressing relief and closure following the guilty verdict in the murder of Charles Vallow, emphasizing that justice had been served. Gerry Vallow, Charles Vallow’s brother, stated to reporters outside the courthouse that he was pleased the trial was over and called it a good day. Lori Vallow Daybell is currently serving three consecutive life sentences after being convicted in 2023 of killing her two children, Joshua “JJ” Vallow and Tylee Ryan, and conspiring to murder Tammy Daybell, Chad Daybell’s former wife. Chad Daybell, a Mormon author and cult leader, was sentenced to death for his role in the crimes. Vallow Daybell had earned the moniker “Doomsday Mom” as prosecutors argued that the deaths were part of a religious doomsday scheme.
