Asian stock markets are displaying mixed trends as global doubts about U.S. investments and concerns over President Donald Trump’s trade policies persist.

In Asia, trading is cautious with Japan’s Nikkei 225 declining by 0.3% to 34,174.38, while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 remains steady, rising slightly to 7,820.20. South Korea’s Kospi is up by 0.2% at 2,493.19. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is slightly down at 21,387.51, whereas the Shanghai Composite has increased by 0.3% to 3,301.59.

On Wall Street, the S&P 500 experienced a significant drop of 2.4%, pulling the index 16% below its recent record high. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 971 points, or 2.5%, while the Nasdaq composite was down by 2.6%, influenced by losses in Tesla and Nvidia shares.

The U.S. government bonds and the dollar also saw declines as prices weakened in U.S. markets, which is an unusual occurrence. Traditionally, Treasurys and the dollar have strengthened during periods of uncertainty, but the current unease is due to policies originating in Washington, leading to concerns about the reliability of these traditionally safe investments.
