The U.S. State Department has announced a reward of up to $5 million for any information that leads to the capture or conviction of the leader of the foreign terrorist group MS-13. The reward is specifically for details on Yulan Adonay Archaga Carías, who serves as the head of MS-13 in Honduras. This announcement was made on Monday. The State Department has labeled MS-13 as a Foreign Terrorist Organization, emphasizing the urgency to put a stop to their activities.
Archaga Carías is wanted for various crimes including drug trafficking, possession of firearms, and criminal conspiracies. He is also on the list of the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives, along with being sanctioned by the Treasury Department for his alleged involvement in illicit activities such as drug trafficking, murder, extortion, and money laundering.
The Treasury Department has emphasized the need to disrupt MS-13’s financial operations, as Archaga Carías is accused of ordering the killings of rival gang members, providing weapons to drug trafficking groups, and escaping from prison in Honduras. Despite his criminal activities, he is still on the run. The State Department attributes him as the top-ranking member of MS-13 in Honduras and links him to the gang’s drug trafficking operations into the United States, as well as various violent crimes like murder and kidnappings.
