On Thursday evening, we stood united as Blue Jackets fans. Columbus will always be remembered as a team, an organization, and a fan base that brought the sport together in the face of a tragic event.
While the Jackets did not reach the playoffs, they highlighted the strength of the community in Columbus following the loss of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau.
Many teams claim to be like a family, but the 2024-25 Blue Jackets, led by Meredith Gaudreau, Johnny’s widow, truly exemplified the meaning of family.
The organization, under the guidance of president-general manager Don Waddell, senior adviser John Davidson, and head coach Dean Evason, along with the unity fostered by Sean Monahan, Johnny Gaudreau’s close friend, deserve recognition for coming together in solidarity rather than falling apart.
