Dynapac Rolls Out New CP28 as Industry’s Heaviest Pneumatic Tire Roller

During the World of Asphalt tradeshow in St. Louis, Missouri, Dynapac introduced its latest product, the CP28, which is set to enter the U.S. market soon. Described as “the heaviest ballastable pneumatic tire roller on the market,” the CP28 is equipped with four wheels in both the front and back, and its weight can be adjusted from 21,000 to 68,000 pounds through the addition of steel plates or materials such as wet sand, water, steel shot, and scrap metal for ballasting purposes.

Specifically designed for asphalt and soil compaction, the CP28 can achieve speeds of up to 12 mph. It is furnished with EcoMode and EcoSave technologies that ensure minimal engine rpm and automatic engine shutdown when idle for too long. Additionally, each tire is equipped with its own sprinkler system, scraper bar, and cocoa mat to prevent asphalt pickup.

Powered by a 134-horsepower F 3.8 Cummins engine, the CP28 measures nearly 17 feet in length, 6.8 feet in width, and 9.8 feet in height, with production scheduled to commence in June. Notably, the roller features an upgraded operator station that can be installed with either a symmetrical or asymmetrical cab, offering clear visibility for the operator.

The CP28 boasts an innovative “Air on the Run” system that can inflate all tires from 0 psi to 12 psi in approximately 12 minutes when activated from the operator station. A new front suspension on the CP28 has been designed to tilt and oscillate during proof rolling or dirt passes to maintain tire contact at all times, with 4.5-degree lateral oscillation and 1.5-degree tire tilt available in the front, and 2 degrees of tire tilt in the rear suspension.
