According to officials, a shooting at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas on Tuesday afternoon resulted in injuries to four students, three of whom suffered gunshot wounds. Dallas Fire-Rescue confirmed that the ages of the patients ranged from 15 to 18 and their injuries varied in severity. Following the report of the shooting around 1 p.m., students were observed evacuating the main school building. One student, Patrick Campos, described hearing gunshots and seeking refuge with a teacher in a room amid the chaos.

During a brief news conference, authorities disclosed that the gunman had been identified but remained at large. However, the suspect was later apprehended and was in custody at the Dallas County Jail. This incident occurred at the same school where a student was previously injured in a classroom shooting last year, prompting Dallas Independent School District Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde to express concern over the recurring nature of such events.

Officials mentioned that the gun did not enter the school building during the standard security check when students pass through metal detectors. The circumstances leading to the shooting and how the gun was brought into the building were not disclosed, as the investigation was ongoing. Classes at the school were canceled for the remainder of the week, and counseling services were offered to assist individuals affected by the shooting.
